The first MTT visit to Ethiopia was made by Co-chairman Graham Watson in 2015 to Hawassa [Awasa] to the Hawassa University Comprehensive and Specialized Hospital.
The Consultant Surgeon & Urologist, Professor Aberra A. Gobezie was particularly keen for Medi Tech Trust to organise training courses, having learned of our charity’s success in other African countries.
To provide all round support to this hospital’s Urology Unit, Medi Tech Trust organised and funded an ‘On the Job’ staff training programme by arranging visits to Hawassa for 2 week periods twice a year. In addition, state of the art medical equipment has been donated.
Hawassa was the first hospital to receive recycled disposables. When thanking MTT, Professor Aberra A. Gobezie said these instruments would ensure that several hundred patients could now be treated.
