What We Do

Medigive

Medigive connects donors of unused medical equipment with institutions that need it most — free of charge and free of administration.

From the pandemic to a permanent solution

Throughout the pandemic, Medi Tech Trust donated PPE equipment to frontline NHS staff, care workers, and the hard of hearing. Working on the ground, our charity discovered how much medical equipment and surgical supplies goes unused — stockpiled in storerooms, caught in procurement backlogs, or simply left over from contracts that changed.

That discovery sparked an initiative which has since benefitted many thousands of patients. Rather than allow vital supplies to go to waste, we created a structured way to move them from where they sit unused to where they are urgently needed.

In 2021, we launched a community project called MEDIGIVE, whereby medical institutions, manufacturers, suppliers and the general public are encouraged to donate unwanted medical equipment and supplies — which other medical institutions can then apply to receive.

Since then, many millions of items have been donated to UK food banks, baby banks and communities, as well as to hospitals overseas. Items change hands without incurring payments or administration charges.

Who can donate?

Medical institutions, manufacturers, suppliers, and members of the general public with unwanted or surplus medical equipment and supplies.

Who can receive?

Medical institutions, food banks, baby banks, community organisations and overseas hospitals can all apply to receive donated items.

No cost. No admin.

Items change hands without incurring payments or administration charges. MediGive removes every barrier between surplus and need.

How It Works

Simple by design

MediGive is built around three straightforward steps — removing barriers between unused supplies and the people who need them.

01

Institutions, manufacturers, suppliers or members of the public donate their unused medical equipment and supplies. All items are entered onto the Medigive database.

02

Match

Medical institutions, hospitals, food banks and community organisations apply to receive what they need. If those items are available then MediGive will donate them.

03

Transfer

Equipment changes hands without payments or administration charges. Identities are protected throughout to meet privacy regulations, keeping the process simple and safe for all parties.
