Recycling
We encourage the public to recycle unwanted, unused medical supplies rather than see them go to landfill or incineration.
Giving medical supplies a second life
In addition to hospital and manufacturer donations, we also encourage the general public to recycle unwanted, unused medical supplies. We cannot accept medicines, as these must be returned to the issuing pharmacy.
In East Sussex, most patients can place them in a yellow or white MTT recycling bin located in their surgery. The bins are regularly collected and processed by our volunteers. Larger items are either collected or delivered to our recycling centre.
Once recorded, the sorted items are then given to a hospital in a low-income country or war zone for distribution to their patients.
Every day we are contacted by people throughout the UK who prefer to recycle than incineration or landfill. We are so grateful, as are the recipient patients!
